Today I would like to talk about books that have inspired me in any way. Sometimes I finish reading a book and feel the urge to change the world, change my life or simply change my day. The 4 following books did exactly that.
I love everything Lena Dunham does. With Not That Kind of Girl she describes all moods of (female) life – to fall in love, to feel alone, to struggle with weight-issues and to stand up for yourself. And she does that in such an easy way, that you have to laugh, shed a tear and feel completely yourself whilst reading it. Lena Dunham is a great example for a modern feminist. She loves herself and encourages you to do the same. And by simply loving yourself you will grow stronger.
At first sight you might not think that this collection of doodles, photographs and style-reccomendations could inspire you to change some. But Alexa Chung also reflects on her life and what has influenced her. And whilst reading it I started thinking what has inspired me in life. Alexa Chung seams like such a strong and willing person to me and that’s something I really admire.
In Across The Universe teenager Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard ta spaceship and expects to awake on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. “Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules”. And exactly this aspect of rules and mindest were what fascinated me so much. 250 years from now the world as we know it today might not exist because of global warming and how people treat each other. And that’s something you really start to think about whilst reading this book (and the accompanying two books). And Beth Revis of course has written three wonderful books and you really get sucked into the story!
The New Nomads shows you beautiful tiny homes, homes on wheels and other flexible homes. With homeoffice, flexible work hours and digital nomads becoming more and more normal there is a need to mobilize living and create a new sense of freedom. This book really inspires a new way of living and working. And it really makes you think how much stuff you need to live a fullfilling life.
